The configuration in the tradition
Pisces is Jupiter's sign, and the last weeks of the Sun's passage through it close the solar year before Mesha Sankranti. The texts treat the Sun and Saturn as natural adversaries, so their sharing a sign is read as tension between authority and restriction. Those are the classical readings of the positions, nothing more.
The market that day
Nifty 50 opened at 22,838, touched 23,153 and closed at 23,123 - a gain of 285 points (+1.25%), its strongest single-day gain in three weeks, on above-average volume. IT, Auto and Consumer stocks led.
Coincidence is not cause
These events coincided in time. That is not evidence that one caused the other, and we do not claim it. We have tested planetary timing rules against years of market data - deflated Sharpe ratios, out-of-sample splits and the probability of backtest overfitting - and across 1,644 strategies on 16 assets none has been distinguished from chance.
Corrected 2 October 2026: an earlier version of this post described this date as Mesha Sankranti, the Sun's entry into Aries; the Sun was in Pisces and entered Aries on April 14. The positions above are recomputed from the sidereal (Lahiri) ephemeris for the date.
