PPF Calculator

See how a yearly PPF contribution grows over the 15-year lock-in, with the maturity value, your total invested and the interest earned, then find the next auspicious muhurat days to open your account, read through a classical Vedic lens on timing. An educational planning tool, not financial advice.

Calculate your PPF maturity

Enter the amount you plan to invest each year, the PPF interest rate and the tenure. PPF compounds annually, and each year's deposit is assumed to be made at the start of the year so it earns for the full remaining term. Every number below is illustrative and based entirely on the values you enter, not a quote or an offer.

These figures are illustrative and based on your inputs only. They assume PPF compounds annually with each year's deposit made at the start of the year, so every year's contribution earns for the remaining term, and they hold your entered rate constant for the full tenure. In reality the PPF rate is set by the Government every quarter and can change, and returns depend on the actual deposit timing within each year. This is not an offer or financial advice. Frequently Asked Questions

PPF is a long-term, Government-backed savings scheme in India that lets you invest a fixed amount each year and earn interest that compounds annually. It is popular for retirement and long-horizon goals because the deposit, the interest and the maturity are all tax-free, and the capital is backed by the Government. You can invest between the minimum and maximum each year, and the account runs for a set lock-in term before it matures.
The PPF interest rate is set by the Government of India and is reviewed every quarter, so it can change from one quarter to the next. This calculator uses 7.1% a year as the default because that has been the prevailing rate, but you can enter whatever rate applies when you read this. The interest is calculated and credited annually. Always check the latest notified rate before you rely on any figure.
A PPF account has a minimum tenure of 15 years, which is what gives the scheme its long-term, disciplined-saving character and its tax benefits. During the lock-in your money stays invested and keeps compounding, with only limited partial withdrawals and loans allowed after the early years. On maturity you can withdraw the full balance, or extend the account in blocks of five years. This calculator assumes at least the 15-year term.
Yes. PPF enjoys what is called EEE status, Exempt-Exempt-Exempt: the amount you invest each year qualifies for deduction under Section 80C, the interest that accrues is exempt from tax, and the maturity amount you finally receive is also tax-free. This is one of the main reasons PPF is favoured for long-term saving. Tax rules can change, so confirm the current position for your situation before relying on it.
Financially, what matters most is starting early, investing regularly and letting the balance compound for the full term. The auspicious days shown here follow classical muhurat principles, supportive weekday, tithi and nakshatra combinations, avoiding Rahu Kalam, Yamaganda and Gulika Kalam, with sunrise-based windows localised to your city. They are offered as educational and cultural timing for those who value it, never as a market signal or a reason to invest.
No. AstroCapitalX is an educational Vedic astrology platform and is not a SEBI-registered investment advisor. This PPF calculator and the timing content are for education and planning only, and nothing here is an offer, a recommendation or investment advice. The figures assume a constant rate and start-of-year deposits, whereas the real PPF rate changes quarterly and your deposit timing matters.
