Auspicious days to start your FD

In Vedic tradition, beginning something meant to grow and stay locked away, such as opening a fresh fixed deposit, on a supportive day and window (muhurat) is considered auspicious. Below are upcoming days with a favourable window, shown for your city. This is a lens on timing only, not a market forecast or a nudge to deposit.

Frequently Asked Questions

This calculator uses the standard compound-interest formula: Maturity = P x (1 + r/n) raised to the power (n x t), where P is your deposit, r is the annual rate as a decimal (rate divided by 100), n is the number of compounding periods per year and t is the tenure in years. The total interest is simply the maturity value minus your principal. Every figure is illustrative and based only on the numbers you enter.
Compounding frequency is how often the interest you have earned gets added back to your balance so that it too starts earning interest. Most banks compound fixed deposits quarterly, though monthly, half-yearly and yearly are also used. For the same rate and tenure, more frequent compounding gives a slightly higher maturity value. Pick the option your bank actually uses so the illustration matches your deposit.
For a standard fixed deposit, yes: the rate agreed when you open the deposit stays the same until maturity, even if the bank changes rates for new deposits later. This calculator assumes the single rate you enter stays constant for the full tenure, which is an illustration, not a prediction of future rates. Special or floating-rate products can differ, so check your bank's terms.
Financially, what matters most is the rate, the tenure and letting the deposit compound undisturbed. The auspicious days shown here follow classical muhurat principles, supportive weekday, tithi and nakshatra combinations, avoiding Rahu Kalam, Yamaganda and Gulika Kalam, with sunrise-based windows localised to your city. They are offered as educational and cultural timing for those who value it, never as a market signal or a reason to deposit.
No. Your maturity value is set purely by the deposit amount, interest rate, tenure and compounding frequency in the maths above. Muhurat timing is a traditional, cultural consideration for when to begin, and has no effect on the numbers a bank pays. Treat the two separately: run the maths here, then choose a day that suits you.
