How commodity muhurta works in Vedic astrology
Every commodity has a ruling planet in classical Vedic finance astrology. Gold belongs to the Sun (yellow metal, kingly authority), silver to the Moon (white metal, public mood), copper to Mars (red metal, industrial vigour), platinum to Saturn (rare, hard-won). When the weekday matches the ruling planet — or when that planet's Hora (planetary hour) falls in the daylight period — the muhurta for trading that commodity is considered favourable.
The weekday ruler is the primary signal
Sunday is ruled by the Sun (favours gold, PSU stocks, leadership-driven trades). Monday belongs to the Moon (silver, FMCG, dairy, water). Tuesday is Mars (copper, defense, real estate, but volatile). Wednesday is Mercury (IT, communication, base metals trading). Thursday is Jupiter (banking, education, pharma — the most universally auspicious day). Friday is Venus (jewellery, luxury, sugar). Saturday is Saturn (heavy industry, oil, platinum — favourable for accumulation but avoid speculative entries).
The four windows to always avoid
Regardless of how favourable the day looks, Rahu Kalam is the single most-avoided window in Indian financial muhurta. Yamaganda is the secondary avoidance — suited only for closing existing trades. Gulika Kala tends to multiply whatever karma is initiated then — wonderful for proven systems, catastrophic for speculative ones. Visti Karana (Bhadra) appears 8 times per fortnight and should be avoided for all auspicious beginnings.
Combining muhurta with Panchang for higher-conviction trades
A genuinely strong commodity muhurta combines: (1) a favourable weekday, (2) the right Nakshatra — Pushya, Hasta, Anuradha, Shravana, Revati are universally favourable, (3) Shukla Paksha for accumulating positions or Krishna Paksha for shorting, (4) avoiding all four windows above, and (5) a Choghadiya of Amrita, Shubha, or Labha. When all five align, the muhurta is rated "excellent" — typically 6-10 such windows per month per commodity.
