Gold near record levels

January 13, 2026 found MCX gold near record levels at about ₹1,41,847 per 10 grams, after a multi-year rise that had seen gold more than double from its 2022-23 lows. COMEX gold stood at $4,604/oz and COMEX silver at $84.61/oz (MCX about ₹2,45,453/kg), a gold/silver ratio of roughly 54:1 - narrow against the 80-90 range of 2024-25.

The sky in the same weeks

Jupiter, the planet the tradition associates with expansion, was transiting Gemini under the influence of Rahu, which the texts associate with the unconventional and with uncertainty. Venus, associated with luxury and precious goods, was in Capricorn, and on January 13 the Moon - silver's classical significator - was in Libra through market hours, entering Scorpio later that day. Those are the classical associations of the positions, nothing more.

Coincidence is not cause

These events coincided in time. That is not evidence that one caused the other, and we do not claim it. Gold's long rise had well-documented drivers, central-bank buying among them. We have tested planetary timing rules against years of market data - deflated Sharpe ratios, out-of-sample splits and the probability of backtest overfitting - and across 1,644 strategies on 16 assets none has been distinguished from chance.

What followed

Gold reached $4,994/oz by March 17, 2026, a further 8.5%, while silver traded near $80.26/oz by March.
